This is the third part of the Underground Moscow post series. The first two articles are
“Underground Moscow. Part 1. Dungeon History”
“Underground Moscow. Part 2. Dungeon Tales”
Here I will tell about the subway-2 objects. There are schemes of the subway-2 in the Internet but since it is a top secret object and no one have been there except for special people, you can hardly believe what it published in the Internet. I will only tell what the diggers tell here.
The research of the underground always was under the sanction of the authority but never could be finished. In the beginning of the XVIII century Konon Osipov started to explore the tunnels under Kremlin but died soon. In the end of XIX prince Shcherbatov started the research but soon the WWI started. In Soviet time Streletskiy tried again but because of Kirov’s murder the political situation changed and the work was stopped.
The underground construction was expanded in XX in the reign of Stalin. He signed a bill that forbade any unauthorized underground research and sanctified constructing secret bunkers, asylum, underpasses and other objects that one of the magazines called “subway-2”. According to the rumors, the bunkers under the unfinished USSR Stadium and “Blizhnaya datcha” are still clean and taken care of.
The diggers could find some tunnels of the subway-2 system. They look like regular subway tunnels but there are asphalt roads along them on both sides and wooden flooring over the railway for cars.
The communist party has built many objects. All of the objects are strategic sites, hence top secret, and it is impossible to get there so even the diggers can’t do anything about it.
